Gun Transfer Process

Before ordering a new gun from another dealer or on the internet, please know that OTS consistently carries an extensive selection of firearms from almost every manufacturer in the industry, and will do our best to meet or beat online offerings.  If we don’t have it immediately in stock, we have the ability to order anything commercially available from our distributors and usually have it delivered to you within a week.

If we can’t assist you with a purchase however, OTS will help facilitate your transfer.  You will be responsible for handling the financial portion of the purchase of the firearm directly with the seller.

If you are purchasing/receiving a firearm from a FFL dealer:  you will need to send them a copy of our Federal Firearms License (Click Here for Copy). The seller will then send the firearm to OTS. After we receive and check in the firearm,  an OTS Staff Member will call letting you know it is ready for pick-up at the store.

If you are purchasing/receiving a firearm from a private seller/individual (NOT a FFL dealer):  the seller must include a copy of their driver’s license or other government issued ID showing their date of birth and current address.

The cost of an incoming transfer is $35 per handgun/rifle and includes your FDLE call-in fee.  All Class III/NFA weapons transfers are $100 per item. You are still subject to a Florida-mandated three business-day wait, but the waiting period does begin when you pay for the gun.  We do accept transfers directly from civilians (non-FFLs) with proper identification.  Outgoing transfers are $50 per gun plus applicable shipping.

You MUST be a resident of the State of Florida with a valid Florida Driver’s License showing your CURRENT address. Expired licenses are NOT a valid form of identification.

If you are in the military and stationed in the area, you can process a transfer. To do so, you must bring us ALL of the following:

  • Your current driver’s license or passport
  • A copy of your PCS orders showing your stationing in the Jacksonville area

I recently purchased my first AR-15 from this shop, and unfortunately my experience was very disappointing. After taking the rifle home and inspecting it more closely, I noticed that the dust cover would not fully close. I brought it back to the store to address the issue, expecting it to be handled as a defect. Instead, I was told they could replace it—but only if I paid for a new one. When I asked why this wasn’t caught before the sale, I was told that they don’t inspect their firearms and simply put them on display and sell them as-is. That response alone was concerning. For a business dealing with firearms, I expected a higher level of quality control and responsibility. I ended up being charged to fix an issue that should have been identified and resolved before the product was ever sold. This felt unprofessional and unfair as a customer. Additionally, I was given incorrect information regarding suppressor (silencer) purchases. I was told I needed to buy one before even applying, which turned out to be false. I went to another shop and was able to complete the application process without purchasing first, which makes me question the accuracy of the information provided here. Overall, I found the experience frustrating and unprofessional. I will not be returning and will be taking my business elsewhere. I would not recommend this shop based on my experience.

Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. The shooting range is excellent, and not a sweatbox like most indoor ranges. Selection of rental guns includes automatics, which is must for anyone who hasn't tried it. This will definitely be my first choice shooting range.

I recently attended a basic handgun course on November 23, 2024 and it was an excellent experience. The instructor, Mark, was incredibly kind, patient, and informative. As a first-time shooter with no prior experience, I was initially nervous, but Mark made sure everyone in the class understood how to safely and effectively handle their firearms. His teaching style was approachable, and he took the time to ensure no one was left behind. Since I’m not a gun owner, I chose to rent a firearm and wasn’t sure which one to select. One of the staff members suggested the Smith & Wesson .380 EZ Shield, explaining it was a great choice for beginners (and one of the first guns he purchased for his wife). It turned out to be an excellent recommendation—it was easy to use once I got the hang of it, and by the end of the course, I felt much more confident. In fact, I enjoyed the experience so much that I think I’ve fallen in love with shooting and am already planning to purchase a firearm soon! The facility itself was very clean, and the entire staff was friendly and courteous. The day before my class, I spoke with Dylan to confirm details, and he was incredibly helpful and polite. From start to finish, the professionalism and warmth of everyone involved made the experience memorable. Thank you, Mark, for your patience and dedication! I highly recommended this basic handgun course with Mark for anyone looking to get started with firearms in a safe, supportive environment.

My husband, adult son, and myself took the conceal and carry course with Mark at this location and it was excellent. Mark was extremely knowledgeable and made the material interesting and relatable to everyday life. Even though I grew up around gums, they still make meextremely nervous so I was worried about taking the class and hitting the targets. Mark was so patient and made the class enjoyable for me. I left feeling confident in using my gun and finally understood how safe target shooting can be fun. Even though you don’t technically need a conceal and carry in Florida (big yikes), Mark was excellent at educating my young adult son on handling guns the legal and right way while fully explaining the importance of calmly observing and reacting to your surroundings in a manner that won’t put yourself or others in unnecessary legal or physical danger. In our highly litigious world, this class is a must for any gun owner. Besides it being an excellent class, the facility is top notch with clean and updated technology. Highly recommend.

We drove to On Target Sports in Orange Park, FL and our first impression was okay, but once we walked in, two employees kept staring at us and yelling at us. It made us feel extremely uncomfortable and unwelcome. Not long after, they kicked us out in a very rude way, saying there was an issue with a bullet/shot in the ceiling. Regardless of what happened, the way the situation was handled was completely unprofessional and disrespectful. I do not recommend this place. Total waste of time and money.

I took the Basic Handgun class with Mark Singleton, and it was an incredibly informative and professional experience. I joined the class simply to learn a new skill and because, living in Florida, I believe it’s important to understand how to safely handle a firearm for self-defense and other reasons. This was my very first time handling a real gun, I had never even heard a gunshot in person before. Mark was incredibly patient and understanding. During the live-fire portion, I was overwhelmed by the loud noise and felt very triggered. He kindly let me complete my practice after everyone else had finished, which made a huge difference. Thanks to his support, I was able to push through the fear and actually discovered that I enjoy shooting, it’s just the loud noise that I need to get used to. I highly recommend this class to anyone, whether you’re completely new or just want a solid foundation in gun safety. Honestly, I think schools should include firearm safety classes so people are educated on how to handle guns responsibly. Mark is an amazing instructor, and I’m grateful for the experience!

I took the ladies- only handgun class so that I could become familiar with my personal gun. The information that I received was WONDERFUL. I have my conceived carry license already but I wanted something that actually TAUGHT me about guns so that I know what I'm handling. I'm so glad I took this class. The ladies were motivational and the instructors were knowledgeable- always willing to explain in detail any questions we had. I highly recommend this class to any lady looking to know more about their gun and getting their license.

Mark is very Knowledgable. I asked so many basic and stupid questions, and he answered with patience. There is only thing I wish they can make some changes. The target paper, most of the time, it is our first target palate, and I believe we want to keep it. It is required that our coach has to keep it, and we can only take a picture of it. We believe, we can stick 2 papers on the board, and we can take one home, and they can keep one as their record. Anyway, perfect experience! Highly recommend.
