On Target Sports Gun Transfers
Gun Transfer Process
Before ordering a new gun from another dealer or on the internet, please know that OTS consistently carries an extensive selection of firearms from almost every manufacturer in the industry, and will do our best to meet or beat online offerings. If we don’t have it immediately in stock, we have the ability to order anything commercially available from our distributors and usually have it delivered to you within a week.
If we can’t assist you with a purchase however, OTS will help facilitate your transfer. You will be responsible for handling the financial portion of the purchase of the firearm directly with the seller.
If you are purchasing/receiving a firearm from a FFL dealer: you will need to send them a copy of our Federal Firearms License (Click Here for Copy). The seller will then send the firearm to OTS. After we receive and check in the firearm, an OTS Staff Member will call letting you know it is ready for pick-up at the store.
If you are purchasing/receiving a firearm from a private seller/individual (NOT a FFL dealer): the seller must include a copy of their driver’s license or other government issued ID showing their date of birth and current address.
The cost of an incoming transfer is $35 per handgun/rifle and includes your FDLE call-in fee. All Class III/NFA weapons transfers are $75 per item. You are still subject to a Florida-mandated three business-day wait, but the waiting period does begin when you pay for the gun. We do accept transfers directly from civilians (non-FFLs) with proper identification. Outgoing transfers are $50.00 per gun plus applicable shipping.
You MUST be a resident of the State of Florida with a valid Florida Driver’s License showing your CURRENT address. Expired licenses are NOT a valid form of identification.
If you are in the military and stationed in the area, you can process a transfer. To do so, you must bring us ALL of the following:
- Your current driver’s license or passport
- A copy of your PCS orders showing your stationing in the Jacksonville area
Important Notes on Gun Transfers
***TRANSFER PICK-UPs MUST BE NO LATER THAN 30 MINUTES PRIOR TO CLOSING TO ALLOW FOR PAPERWORK PROCESSING AND BACKGROUND CHECK.***
FOR OUTGOING TRANSFERS, YOU MUST PROVIDE US WITH THE RECEIVING FFL DEALER’S LICENSE, OR THEY MAY EMAIL IT TO US DIRECTLY. UNFORTUNATELY, WE ARE NOT ABLE TO CONTACT OR REACH OUT TO A RECEIVING FFL DEALER ON YOUR BEHALF TO OBTAIN THEIR LICENSE. WE DO NOT ACCEPT OR PROCESS OUTGOING TRANSFERS ON WEEKENDS. TRANSFERS GOING TO CALIFORNIA OR PUERTO RICO ARE SUBJECT TO ADDITIONAL PROCESSING CHARGES.
***PLEASE ALLOW US AT LEAST 24 HOURS TO RECEIVE AND PROCESS YOUR INCOMING TRANSFER. WE MUST ENTER THE FIREARM’S INFORMATION INTO OUR BOOKS BEFORE YOU MAY TAKE POSSESSION OF IT. WE WILL CALL YOU WHEN YOU ARE ABLE TO COME AND PICK UP YOUR FIREARM.***
